A Letter from the President
Dear students,
If you've been accepted, you've already seen my name at the bottom of your letter. It's Neil Ostrander, and I'm new in the president's office. Before that I was a forester in this county for forty-odd years, and my boots are still by the office door.
I've kept this handbook short, since I'd guess you have better things to do with your first week than read it. There's one page after this letter, and it covers how to enroll, how classes and grading work, what campus is like and who to ask when something goes wrong.
One piece of advice from an old forester: if you get the chance at a field class on the hillsides, take it, and wear boots you don't mind ruining.
Good luck this term.
Sincerely,
Neil Ostrander
President, Oakridge College
