Certificate Program
Total Credits Required: 30

The Municipal Administration Certificate is an 30-credit program designed for students who want a focused academic and practical foundation in local government procedure, public records, administrative process, civic documentation, public-facing service, and the everyday operations of municipal offices. This certificate is intended for students who are interested in town administration, public office support, records work, permits, licensing, public meetings, or continued study in legal studies and public administration.

The program combines foundational coursework in civic institutions with practical study in public records, administrative communication, municipal procedure, office ethics, documentation, and public service conduct. Students complete focused coursework intended to help them understand how local government offices function without presenting the certificate as a professional government appointment or independent administrative authority.

Together, these requirements are intended to prepare students for supervised municipal, civic, or public office support roles that depend on accuracy, organization, public communication, discretion, procedural awareness, and respect for institutional boundaries.

Program Overview

The Municipal Administration Certificate is intended for students seeking a focused introduction to public office support within Oakridge’s Department of Legal Studies. The program prepares students for supervised municipal office roles, public records assistance, civic documentation work, administrative support, continued legal studies, or other public-service pathways.

Rather than presenting itself as a government appointment or independent public authority, the certificate provides a practical foundation in local government procedure, records management, public communication, administrative ethics, documentation, and professional responsibility. Within Oakridge’s Department of Legal Studies, this program serves students who want to support civic institutions responsibly while developing the habits of accuracy, discretion, organization, fairness, and careful judgment expected in public office environments.
