The Political Science and Civic Studies program is designed for students who want an academic foundation in government, policy, and civic institutions. It is intended for aspiring public servants, council and campaign types, and students who care how a town actually gets run.
The program combines a progressive political science sequence with sociology or history, psychology, and applied civic coursework. Local government is the working laboratory: budgets, boards, ordinances, and the people who argue about them.
Together, these requirements are intended to prepare students for municipal and civic roles, campaign and advocacy work, and continued study in political science, law, or public administration.

Associate — 60 credits
- Political Science (Introductory → Advanced): 20 credits
- Sociology or History: 10 credits
- Psychology: 10 credits

Bachelor — 120 credits
A completed Associate in Political Science and Civic Studies transfers in full; bachelor candidates complete the associate coursework plus:
- Advanced → Expert Political Science: 20 credits
- Economics: 10 credits
- Public administration coursework: 10 credits
- Free Electives: 20 credits
Graduation Requirements
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours (Associate) or 120 credit hours (Bachelor)
- Successful completion of all required departmental coursework
- Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0
- A grade of C or higher in all core program requirements
- Completion of a capstone civic-policy project
