The Theatre and Performance program is designed for students who want a practical and academic foundation in acting, public speaking, and live performance. It is intended for actors, hosts, and students who are at their best in front of an audience.
The program combines progressive public-speaking and performance coursework with psychology — the study of why people act the way they do — and music, movement, and stagecraft electives. Students perform regularly, in scenes, showcases, and full productions.
Together, these requirements are intended to prepare students for stage and screen work, event hosting, teaching support, and continued study in the performing arts.
Program Structure
Associate — 60 credits
- Public Speaking (Introductory → Advanced): 20 credits
- Psychology: 10 credits
- Music: 10 credits
- English: 10 credits
- Free Elective: 10 credits
Bachelor — 120 credits
A completed Associate in Theatre and Performance transfers in full; bachelor candidates complete the associate coursework plus:
- Advanced performance & production coursework: 20 credits
- Expert Public Speaking: 10 credits
- History or Literature: 10 credits
- Free Electives: 20 credits
Graduation Requirements
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours (Associate) or 120 credit hours (Bachelor)
- Successful completion of all required departmental coursework
- Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0
- A grade of C or higher in all core program requirements
- Completion of a capstone production role or supervised public performance
