Dorothea Ashton

Dorothea Lilie Ashton, née Hale, was the wife of Arther Ashton and the mother of Raymond, through whom the Caleb branch of the Ashton family carried into the modern day. She was Hale-born — a third tie between the Hale and Ashton lines, after Rebecca and Eliza Mae before her — though the record does not fix her exact place in the Hale family tree.

Married into the working branch of the Ashtons, she lived a long life that reached deep into the Oakridge era, outliving her husband by a decade and dying in 1962 as the last of the Hale-born Ashton wives. What is remembered of her is chiefly the line she continued and the blood she carried forward: Hale into Ashton, one more time.
