Good communication improves patient outcomes. It is also the difference between a scene that other people can join and one that shuts them out.

202.2 STANDARDS

Staff should:

• Introduce themselves to patients.
• Communicate treatment plans clearly.
• Provide concise patient handovers.
• Confirm understanding.
• Use respectful radio and department communications.
